Shihlin Taiwan Street Snacks 士林台湾小吃 @ Subang Parade

Heard of Shihlin Taiwan Street Snacks 士林台湾小吃 for quite some time, and it is famous for its handmade oyster mee sua 蚵仔面线。The handmade mee sua is kinda special because it won't "melt" eventhough keep on brewing over the slow flame.

Shihlin Taiwan Street Snacks @ Subang Parade.

They recommend to eat by only using spoon. I guess it is because it taste superb if you eat the mee sua together with the soup. RM6.00 per bowl.

The oyster is quite big, almost the size of the spoon, but only gave 2 biji...

This one was tapao from newly opened 士林台湾小吃 at The Garden.

When reached home, the parsley (not celery, corrected by baby :P) 芹菜 already turned yellowish, but the mee sua still firm as normal.

They gave 3 oysters since the oyster this time were kinda small.

Not saying that it is very tasty or what. The oysters somehow doesn't taste that fresh and it is a little pricey I would say. But, dunno why, I just couldn't help myself and tried it twice over a week. Only one word to describe the oyster mee sua 蚵仔面线 --- SPECIAL

The Curve

Still remember the 1st time I visited 迎客楼 was back in 2006. Ya, it was on 15 June 2006! Not only the date, I also remember I went clubbing with friends the night before 15 June 2006 at Thai Club and we all got ourselves drunk. We went home after the so-called breakfast around 4am at a Teochew porridge restaurant behind Berjaya Times Square. Eventhough I managed to wake up before 9am, I still decided to take a "MC" due to my breathe was still full with Jack Daniel smell. Since I was "MC" and no need to work, we went The Curve to watch Fast & Furious 3. Before the movie, we went to 迎客楼 for late lunch. Still remember that time we ordered 红酒面线(red wine mee sua), 南乳肉, 菜圃煎蛋, 菊花洋参须 and so on. For the red wine mee sua, the chef really put red wine kao kao until I felt hard to sip the mee sua, yummy~~~. The 菜圃煎蛋, eventhough is just fried egg with some 菜圃 and cost RM10.00 per plate, but I have to admit that it was the best fried egg I've eaten so far. The most unforgettable from 迎客楼 was the 菊花洋参须, the combination was just perfect. After that day, I tried to boil 菊花洋参须 by myself but somehow just couldn't get as good as 迎客楼 one. But... All of that was just in past now....................................................

迎客楼 nowadays is full with people, price slightly increased, and sad to say that the food is not as good as before :(

Yin Ker Lou.

Menu.

The best dish of the entire meal.

客家焖炸肉。

菊花洋参须 & 竹蔗马蹄。The 菊花洋参须 nowadays got no more the greatness taste which I 1st time had. This is just nothing much different from the one I boiled myself.

Mee.

南乳炸肉。Not so great as well, somehow got some sour taste on it :(

Receipt for 2.

Uncle Duck @ Berjaya Times Square

More than a year since the last time I visited Berjaya Times Square. Nowadays, BTS really full with restaurants if compared with last time.
I remember I did read some review about Uncle Duck in newspaper. In the paper, they were focusing on the steambot, herbal drink and of course duck.
Due to the reason that we need to have empty stomach for the feast at night, we choose to have some light meal for lunch. Is kinda weird not to order duck in restaurant which famous for duck.

Uncle Duck entrance.

Green tea.

Busy chefs.

Herbal drink section.

Both wantan noodle and dumpling noodle look exactly the same.

Sago with mango and grapefruit.

Receipt for 2 person.

Will try the 洋参须 soup steambot next time, and duck as well.

Up

Just like the previous Pixar animated films, Up is a well produced and well made film. The content of the animated film is still as full as before. The most important is, Up won both the critics and box office(No. 2 highest grossing of Pixar!!!).
But somehow, I just don't feel it is as funny and touching if compare with some of Pixar's earlier works such as Toy's Stories, A Bug's Life, Monsters, and Cars. There aren't any significant part/scene which can give deep impression to me. I not really into Ratatouille, but I still have a favorite scene from it, which is the chasing scene among Remy and the bad chef, when the bad chef pull off the table cloth before he falls, he pulled the table cloth just so fast until the things on the table still remain and the couple of the table don't even realize it because they are so much in love. I not really into Wall-E, but the scene when Wall-E dance with Eva by using fire extinguisher + the background music is my favorite part, as well as the BnL thingy. But I got nothing from Up...

For me, it worth a B+, which is far away from failing, but no matter how also cannot get an A.

From now on, I think I don't want to watch animation in 3D theater, because not much difference between watching with 3D glasses and normal mode for animation.

My ranking for the summer 2009 movies that I have watched so far:
01. District 9
02. Star Trek
03. Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince
04. Ice Age 3: Dawn Of The Dinosaurs
05. Up
06. Drag Me to Hell
07. Terminator Salvation
08. Angels & Demons
09. G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra
10. X-Men Origins: Wolverine
11. Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen
12. Night at the Museum 2: Battle of the Smithsonian

El Cerdo @ Changkat Bukit Bintang

El Cerdo, just like Jogoya, is one of the most famous title in food blogs.
El Cerdo is Spanish, means 'The Pig'.

Located at Changkat Bukit Bintang, not far from Jalan Alor. The 2 shops are actually linked together. The one at the left side is actually decorated more into family style while the shop at the right side is more like a pub.

This picture was taken after dining.

We were arranged to sit in the shop at left hand side.

Cozy and warm feeling with the companion of Spanish songs.

You can choose to dine in a "room" if come in big gang or a family.

Menu cover. Not only menu cover, you can see there are pig decoration/design items all over the shop.

Menu.

Drinks.

Man's drink.

Needless to say, girl's drink, Cooler Sunset Dream.

Mushroom soup. Inside got some pork as well.

Bread.

Jamón Serrano from Spain - Imported High Quality Spanish Cured & Air Dried Ham served on Rock Melon and Salad.

Looks like salmon, haha.

The hams are cut into very very thin pieces. Taste salty, best to reserve with bread provided.

This is not soup or drink but is for you to clean your fingers after eating the ribs.

Here comes the ribs. Oven Roasted Iberico Spare Ribs, served on Pineapple Salsa (imported from Spain).

The ribs taste superb. Forget about the silverware, just eat it by using your fingers, because it is fingers licking good!

Photo taken with flash on.

Taaa Daaa~~~ The main focus of the meal, suckling pig(乳猪).
“COCHINILLO AL ESTILO SEGOVIANO” Half Piglet for 2 persons (imported from Denmark).
The suckling pig of just a few weeks old was marinated in Sauvignon blanc for few days before roasting.
With the chef's superb roasting skill and the tenderness of the meat as well as the softness of the bone together with the crispiness of the skin, you can simply cut the suckling pig by using the edge of a plate!
As per tradition of Spain, the plates used to cut the suckling pig were to knock the chopping board 3 times before cutting. Thokk! Thokk! Thokk! After cutting the pig into pieces, make a wish either for LOVE or WEALTH, and smash the plate into pieces in a wooden barrel provided.

Ready to serve. It came with baked potatoes and salad as well.

Lime juice with Martini on the house, yeah man! It is very helpful to ease our digestion after such hearty meal!
Bottoms up!!!

Receipt for 2 person. Yeah, 2 person finished the entire meal! Many thanks to the Jedi L.E.S. ^.'
