TRON: Legacy

Storyline kinda boring.
In terms of visual effects, I said wow when Neo dodging bullets in Matrix, I said wow when Legolas "jump" up the horse in The Two Towers, I said wow when Batman flip the truck and then rotate the Batpod in The Dark Knight, I said wow when Sam Worthington and Sigourney Weaver turn into blue color Na'vi in Avatar, but I wasn't saying anything in TRON: Legacy as there's nothing to shout about.
Black, blue and orange as the main color and I was wondering am I watching another version of old school black & white movie...

Say no to TRON: Legacy and I'm sure you won't lose anything.

Inception

This time, not much twists, but still mindblowing.
The idea is fresh and great.
The story moving in fast pace and make audience feel the intensity.
I like the planning part. It makes me feel like I am one of them, and it is much better than the Ocean series (Ocean 11, 12, 13).
Feel like a lot of things happen in this movie, all in proper sequence.


Powerful cast.

Leonardo DiCaprio - Same as usual. The acting skill is there but his voice not so suitable to play a persuasive person. Ya, he sounds like a boy, not yet a man.
Ken Watanabe - Eventhough hard to understand his Japanglish, but his height and outlook always make him look like a taiko/boss. Too bad of the injury though...
Joseph Gordon-Levitt - Not really like him to play Arthur, the Point Man. Could be better if portrait-ed by Ewan Mcgregor/Orlando Bloom/Ryan Reynolds? Joseph Gordon-Levitt is still more suitable to play the role in (500) Days of Summer.
Marion Cotillard - Mal!!! She is damn elegant, beautiful, dangerous and a bit scary in this movie, makes me so excited every time she appears.
Ellen Page - Finally she doesn't look like Juno anymore. She definitely can lead the role in this movie.
Cillian Murphy - One of my favorite actor. Too bad there is not much space for him to present his acting skill under this role.

一部好的电影，不需要花上数亿美金来制作，特别是用在数码效果（Avatar另外计算，因为他们的制作费大都用在研发前所未有的崭新拍摄科技）。
一个富有创意的构思，即使是用回最原始的材料，一样能熬出令人叹为观止的效果。
有时候，创意并不是在于用多少颜色，而是如何运用最少的色彩将黑暗点缀。

幸庆的是，大马检验局开始慢慢的成长发育了，至少不会再看到无谓的censored。也因如此，Kick-Ass能在大马戏院和大家见可面。
由于充满着数不尽的F word，若检验局消音，此片的确无声胜有声。

非常喜欢Big Daddy和Kick-Ass被捉后上电视直到Hit Girl救他们那part…
坏蛋在电视里“惩罚”假扮superhero的人的确让人感觉到那痛，就像在Bodies of Lies里Leonardo DiCaprio被恐怖分子虐打，看到都痛…
而Hit Girl救他们那part，镭射扫到整间戏院就像在clubbing般，一流的视觉和听觉享受。
First-person shooter的scene在night vision goggles的衬托下效果远胜于Dwayne Johnson的Doom。
Hit Girl把Kick-Ass叫成Asshole更令我差点喷出口中的mango juice…
用动漫画来讲述Big Daddy和Hit Girl的过去/来源更是能够媲美Kill Bill里头的Anime部分，好喜欢镜头的movement把2D的画面3D化，只可惜短了些…

Nicolas Cage是我认识以来第一次以非主角的身份出现在电影中…
导演Matthew Vaughn以此出色之作受邀执导下一部X-Men。

喜欢暴力美学、创意动作、抵死对白的你绝对不能错过Kick-Ass!!!

Iron Man 2

Fuiyooh, so yau yeng and cool...

This part really seductive... The way she stared at Tony Stark (and me), sucked my breath away...

With these tights, needless to say...

Not only the bad guys, I myself also pengsan among them...

Why only put Scarlett's pictures? Because she's the only attraction in the entire movie.

My rating meters for Iron Man 2:
Action - 3/10 (Too less of action for an action movie, Iron Man VS War Machine is so lame. Final counter with Whiplash really makes me speechless（涕笑皆非）, don't know wanna say it geng or lousy...)
Effect - 3/10 (Nothing special compared with the first movie.)
Fun - 4/10 (Ok but still fail.)
Plot - 3/10 (内容空洞，Tak ada isi)
Twist - 0/10 (???)
Brutal - 3/10 (Ip Man 2 tells you more about it.)
Horror - 1/10 (Will talk bout this for A Nightmare on Elm Street.)
Fantasy - 1/10 (The opening when Iron Man flying to the show, which you already had it in Batman & Robin)
Beauty - 8.5/10 (Scarlett and Gwyneth)

Why don't have this scene one? Can't see her sexy armpit on big screen T_T

叶问 2 Ip Man 2

Before watching this movie, I was damn worry that it will inherit the destiny of most sequels, which are best described with the word "SUX".

Initially, my plan was aiming for Ironman 2, but due to the stupid traffic jam that caused me missed the 4pm show, and the next show was 5pm which I couldn't take it as I promised to have dinner with my friend at 7pm. So, I grabbed Ip Man 2.

For me, it is better than the first one. More fight scenes.
For Kung Fu movie, everybody wanna watch fighting scenes, and Ip Man 2 offers all the essentials that audiences wanted. For robot movie, everybody wanna watch exploring scenes, but somehow Revenge of the Fallen offered all the bullsh*ts...

Better opponents and more realistic. Unlike the forever invincible Wong Fei Hong, even though Wong Fei Hong movies are great, but the only thing that I doesn't like much is, no matter how scary and how strong the villains are, they will NEVER EVER give Wong Fei Hong a single pinch of pain, at most also give a cut on his shirt, just like fighting with God instead of human being... This happened in the first episode of Ip Man as well. But here in Ip Man 2, Sammo Hung and Twister really gave Ip Man some great fights.

When I was young, I was kinda worship Westerners. I wanted to enter a University which got a lot of angmo lecturers, after graduate, I wanna enter angmo company, I wanna work with angmo... Now, I everyday also have to deal with angmo, and the experience ain't pleasant, especially when dealing with those who knows nothing other than demanding.

In Ip Man 2, they portrait the angmo in the movie until damn guai lan, bullied Chinese until kao kao, until you feel like wanna apply the 连环拳 on the angmo's face if there are any in the same hall with you, haha...
Ok, enough of angmo bullsh*t, as what Ip Man always emphasize:

尊重 - RESPECT

I have a feeling that this sequel will be much more worthy than the Iron sequel. So, you must not skip or miss Ip Man 2, go watch it NOW!!!

Movies that I watched so far this year...

Sherlock Holmes
Opened on Christmas last year, but only able to watch it early January this year. Nice movie with nice cinematography, as well as witty English style of dialogue. Don't know why, I prefer Dr. Watson than Holmes in this movie. Guy Ritchie, a director with his own specialty. He can make awesomely nice movie, and vice versa. Just compare his Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels and Swept Away and you'll know what I mean...



Avatar (3D)
Watch normal version last year. Seriously, I really didn't feel any excitement when watching it second time in 3D. I wish I had skipped the normal version and directly go to 3D without wasting my time and money and energy.



Legion
This movie really nothing much to talk about. Too normal, and boring. The little old lady was the only interesting part of the entire movie.

But the good thing is, this movie session was the first time the Hybrid Team had the memorable gathering. We had our delicious dinner at Italianese before the movie. After the movie, we hang out at Laundry until late night. Really miss that moment...



Case 39
Badly edited movie. I can't believe that this movie was shot in late 2006 and dragged until 2009/10 only able to be released in just a few countries(not even released in US). Renée Zellweger was wasted in this shitty movie.



Woohoo大日子
I can say that this is the first movie of year 2010 which at least let me feel that my money worth the ticket.



Book of Eli
The story is simple.
With the power of Gary Oldman and Denzel Washington, together with the beauty of Mila Kunis, the ticket is worth what you paid.
The only thing I doesn't like is, Eli doesn't look like a blind man（缺乏说服力）, as well as Gary Oldman is too weak as a mafia/villain boss（缺乏说服力）.

Best animation so far this year...
Great and strong story (It's from children's novel).
Beautiful graphic with nicely designed characters.
Stoick gave a hand on releasing Night Fury make me feel touched.
Not a conventional happy ending but it won't spoil the audiences' emotion. It indeed makes Hiccup more like one of the Viking...

After a few disappointment from those so-called big films during 2009, I'm glad that I watched a great movie to end the year. The story of a species join other species to fight back its own species might not be that original, but as usual, the way how James Cameron presented/directed the movie will never have a single of boring element in it. I somehow had sleepless night the night before the movie, and had tiring long queue at both 1U and E-Curve on the movie day, but yet I didn't fall asleep in this 2 hours 43 minutes movie. Superb visual effects & animation, giving the complete enjoyment of human visual. Will try to catch the 3D version before it gone...

2012

有点雷声大，雨点小的感觉。大致上，精彩的部份已经在预告片和Youtube中看过了。

基本上导演 Roland Emmerich 玩弄特效的手法一流，但是在讽刺人性的部份还是不够深入……（好的例子有 Spielberg 的 War of the World）。

感人的部份是有的，例如父子之间做出最后的交谈、Adrian说服各国总统打开大门、Satnam付出但未获拯救等等，但是却未足以让感性的我眼眶含泪。Once again，不够深入……（好的例子有导演 Roland Emmerich 本身的 Independence Day）。

与今年夏天暑假最热的电影相比，虽然同样是卖弄特效，但2012好在卖弄特效的当儿不会添加一些无聊笑果和多余的性感。

其中，印象深刻的有神经质广播员、苏联老大启动引擎、令我目不转睛性感兼可爱的Tamara等等。

最澎湃的莫属于Adrian父亲在船上面对着几十层楼高的巨浪，真是死的够刺激啊！！！

散场时有点遗憾未能在THX的支持下欣赏Adam Lambert唱的主题曲，因为赶着去打羽球……

Up

Just like the previous Pixar animated films, Up is a well produced and well made film. The content of the animated film is still as full as before. The most important is, Up won both the critics and box office(No. 2 highest grossing of Pixar!!!).
But somehow, I just don't feel it is as funny and touching if compare with some of Pixar's earlier works such as Toy's Stories, A Bug's Life, Monsters, and Cars. There aren't any significant part/scene which can give deep impression to me. I not really into Ratatouille, but I still have a favorite scene from it, which is the chasing scene among Remy and the bad chef, when the bad chef pull off the table cloth before he falls, he pulled the table cloth just so fast until the things on the table still remain and the couple of the table don't even realize it because they are so much in love. I not really into Wall-E, but the scene when Wall-E dance with Eva by using fire extinguisher + the background music is my favorite part, as well as the BnL thingy. But I got nothing from Up...

For me, it worth a B+, which is far away from failing, but no matter how also cannot get an A.

From now on, I think I don't want to watch animation in 3D theater, because not much difference between watching with 3D glasses and normal mode for animation.

富有创意和幽默感的海报

人性的貪婪、贪权、无情、残忍，深深的印在此片放映机内的胶卷上。
为了达到目标，人类不择手段；为了占领全球，人类不择手段…… 其实，一切都是从不要落后、不要输，甚至是妒嫉而造成的。而这些，都是人类的本性。
究竟“怕输”是件好事或坏事呢？
是人都懂，适当的“怕输”或竞争是自我提升的动力，一旦过了准绳，后果将不堪设想。但是，每个人怕输的准绳都是不同的。有些人，够吃够用就满足了，有些人要成为世界首富才满足，有些人有了核子弹还嫌不够强，要有异形武器才能满足。为了达到要求，欺骗贪污诬赖杀人放火统统都如洪水般的涌出来……从职场到商场，从商场到政治都是apply着同样的theory……

戏里的异形虽然很恶心，但是异形(Christopher)三年承诺的可信程度却过多多的高过主角人面兽心的外父。

此片的爆炸场面和电脑特效都是在适当的时候自然而然的出现，毫无画蛇添足之处。观众也不会看爆炸或特效看到打鼾。$30 million的成本就能打造出一部佳作，足以让擅长“炸”上数亿制作费的导演引以为鉴。

主角将老实人的角色演绎得非常出色，虽然他的对白有将近30%是F word。但是F word的确让该角色紧张和绝望的“戏”增添不少声色。

拍摄纪录片的手法让此片的真实感增加数倍。幽默、滑稽和感动的场面让此片如虎添翼……

G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra

Really hard to have a real good action movie nowadays. G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra is just like another Van Helsing, full with hot characters, cool equipments, loud music, loud action, but still lack of something else.
Besides, the significant villains (Cobra) are obviously out number if compared with heroes (G.I.Joe). Not a fair fight I would say, hehe... Ice Age 3: Dawn Of The Dinosaurs - 3D @ TGV Sunway Pyramid

Really funny and entertaining animation. The laughter it gave totally worth the ticket.
The success of Ice Age 3: Dawn Of The Dinosaurs hiked up my expectation on Pixar's UP.

Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince @ MBO Malacca Mall

1st time visit MBO cinema.
This cinema is more or less like the 2020 cinema at Fajar during my primary school time.
Toilet dirty, popcorn not nice, juice not nice, service not nice...
Better go for GSC if you wanna have better movie experience.
But the only thing which I like about MBO is, the hall is decorated like the old time opera hall.

Plastic bag HABIS! -_-"
Not to say that I'm not an environmental friendly human, but, how am I going to carry all these without a plastic bag???



Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince is "well-handled" by the director, David Yates.
This time, Quidditch match is handled by Ron, at least something special than the previous episodes.
Not much climax in this episode. I never read the book, so don't know whether it is written this way or director skipped it.
But, this episode really injected more excitement for the next installment.

Star Trek

The best 2009 summer movie for now

Before this, I really really wanted to skip Star Trek since its series was too bored for me during I was young (before school) mainly because kid like me didn't understand the series. I have a deep impression that Star Trek is a boring series from then on. I didn't even bother to download or watch the trailers/teasers/TV Spots when they are available in Yahoo and Apple since early this year. Besides, I also not that into Star War kinda stuffs.

Recently, I read an article from the internet regarding to Star Trek and J. J. Abrams was described as the second Steven Spielberg. Wow, that really makes me wanna find out how Spielberg JJ is.

For me, Star Trek is way better than those I've watched this summer:
- X-Men Origins: Wolverine
- Angels & Demons
- Night at the Museum: Battle of the Smithsonian
- Terminator Salvation

I know many of you were just like me, and even now, everybody only has Terminator Salvation in mind. But, piece of advice here, don't miss Star Trek before it stop showing. :)





A lot will say Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen will steal the throne away. What say you??? Will you give me a punch on my face if I say I DON'T THINK SO???

Terminator Salvation

I gave a deep sigh since the day I knew T4 was going to be directed by Mc G (His Chalie's Angels was the first action movie that caused me almost fall asleep in cinema). But the name Christian Bale reignite my confidence. When I knew that Sam Worthington will have a big or bigger role than Bale in this movie, I feel, what the heck, who is Sam Worthington??? What so special about him? He looks so ordinary than any of the ang mo you can find in Bukit Bintang.

YES I WAS RIGHT:
Totally cannot compare with T2, no fight at all.
Terminator Salvation is not that bad a movie anyway. The middle part when Marcus Wright and Kyle Reese fight with the terminators while escaping was the best part of the entire movie. The sudden grab from the giant robot was very exciting, until the audience beside me jumped from the seat, twice, haha...
But the ending part, starting from John Connor entered Skynet until the end of the movie, was so boring. Bad ending...

NO I WAS WRONG:
Marcus Wright played by Sam Worthington was flawless. This dude got the acting skills. He almost stole away Christian Bale's attraction, only that Bale is too strong to be beaten up. Sam Worthington will come again in James Cameron's Avatar end of this year. Now I know why James Cameron choosed him as the leading actor in his upcoming movie. Sam Worthington is the rising star this year, same as Channing Tatum....

Kate Connor, wife of John Connor, played by Bryce Dallas Howard. I fall in love with her since Lady in the Water as Story. She is not the sexy or super pretty kind of girl, but just has the angelic sweetness look, which pressed my hot button, and I, always fall for angelic girls.



Another shoot of Bryce Dallas Howard, the angel. Her dad is the Academy Award-winning director Ron Howard who currently has a big film playing now in the cinemas which is Angels & Demons.... Ohhh, got the word Angel again, hehe...

Sometime, I love demon too. She is the biggest demon of mine, Sienna Miller. See you in G.I. Joe ^o^

Sell Out!

- About the song "You Are Not My Type", the "Noooo~~~........................" part is too damn long, spoilt the nice song.
- Opening, director won woman director award? Anything related to Yas. Ahm.?
- Boring long tracking shots, coz most of them are static. Must learn from the master of long tracking shot Brian De Palma, whose Snake Eyes which got crazily superb long tracking shot in the opening(Nic Cage's excellent performance also must be credited for that shot, it is just too good!!!).
- About the part when Rafflesia asking the dying man what he thinks about our government, can add more 心思 the second before he die so that the impact will be more powerful. What a waste when touch the point but not deep enough into it.
- Nice office building, like LRT station
- Ending = ???
- Sharon Pang kind of subtitle appear again -_-"

Paul Blart: Mall Cop

Not so funny for me. Don't know why, recently I can't really have a good laugh from movies. The most recent laughter I gave for a movie was for Watching The Detective and that's it.
